It has been a great year at Sheppard with so much to celebrate. We worked hard, played hard and became better citizens supporting both local, Canadian and international initiatives.

The end of the year also comes with sadness as we say goodbye to students who are moving, our graduating grade sixes and staff who are continuing on in their education journey.

At this time, we would like to say goodbye to Mr. Mervyn who will be going back to his intermediate roots and be teaching at MacGregor P.S. We would also like to say goodbye to Mr. Walker, who has accepted a position at AR Kaufman back in the regular classroom.  As well, Mr. Weldon will be sharing his passion for biking with older students as he has accepted a position at Laurentian P.S.  Mme. Tosi is going to begin an adventure of her life time and travel abroad for a year with her husband.  We welcome her back for the 2017-2018 school year.

We also have four teachers who have ended their long term teaching assignment with us here at Sheppard. We wish much success and a fond farewell to Ms. Schoppel, Ms. Presenger, Mrs. Cull and Mrs. Qushair.

Kindergarten will also be missing Ms. Runstedler who has accepted an ECE position at Wellesley P.S., Ms. Campbell who has accepted an E.A. position at Chalmers P.S. and Ms. Firis and Ms. Shu who have ended their long term ECE assignment with us here at Sheppard.

A final goodbye goes to Ms. Geddes who welcomed you each Monday at the office. Ms. Geddes has accepted a full time position at Lackner Woods P.S.

While we say good-bye to many, we also welcome new and returning staff. We would like to welcome back Ms. Orasanin and Ms. Wagner who are returning from their maternity leaves.  We also welcome new hire Ms. Morgan who will be teaching Gr. 1 F.I., Ms. Schoales who will be teaching Gr. 5/6 F.I., Mr. Horniblow who will have planning time coverage and SERT time as well as Ms. Thibeault who is joining our E.C.E. team.

We still have some hiring to do over the summer but look forward to welcoming new staff at the beginning of September.

We wish a huge thank you to our school council, who has been a wonderful support for Sheppard Public School. They went above and beyond to enhance our school, supporting our home reading program, use of technology, outdoor play, graduation as well as providing an amazing community building “Family Fun Fair” evening.

Sheppard is truly fortunate to have so many caring staff, students, parents and community members helping us to achieve our best.

Two items to note as we head into the summer.

1) Class lists will be posted on the back doors on Friday, September 2 at 4:00 p.m.

2) Next year’s timetable will have first nutrition break at the usual time 11:00-11:40.   The second nutrition break will be one period later from 1:40-2:20.  This will allow us to provide larger blocks of uninterrupted time for both math and literacy instruction.

We wish everyone a safe, fun-filled summer and look forward to seeing you back at Sheppard on Tuesday, September 6, 2016.
