September 8th, 2016
It has been a great start to the school year. Both staff and students are getting back into routines and we are looking forward to the cooler weather arriving soon.
We would like to start the year off reminding parents of some safety practices that will help in the day to day operation of a large, busy school.
We understand that the parking lot is the easiest way for families to get their children to and from the school’s tarmac, however we do worry about the safety of our students especially with the number of busses that arrive at the same time as the students. As well, we worry about the messages we are sending to students who do not travel with their parents and see others using the parking lot. Ideally, we would like all parents and students to enter the school using either the sidewalk or pathways provided. Please help us keep our students safe!
Sheppard has a large staff and limited parking spaces. Unfortunately, we do not have the space to allow parents to enter the parking lot for student pick-up or drop-off unless they are using the handicapped parking space (with the permitted documentation). Please remember to walk or drop your children off at the side streets surrounding our school.
As well, we would like to offer another gentle reminder that dogs should not be brought on school property as we have a number of students who experience some anxiety with their presence.
We look forward to seeing everyone at our “Meet the Staff” evening on Wednesday, September, 14th from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Hope to see you then.
